The recumbent sits on top of a substantial stone wall and has done for last hundred years. It would seem likely that the original circle site was in one of the two fields that the wall divides. This same wall has other large and well dressed stones up and down its length and because of these large stones, this wall is noticeably different to the other uniform stone dyke's in the neighbouring fields. There are also piles of large dressed stones in a couple of the corners of the immediate fields which would suggest that this was significant circle site.
