On the way to the stone I met the very friendly farmer who recalled his father telling him about how they used small amounts of explosive / gunpowder to split the stones apart, the remains of the broken stones can be seen on the farm track and along the far side of the field.
The stone is a 2.7 meter flat triangular shape and is fallen, it is thought that this was one of the flanker's.
