Only one medium standing stone remain's with no signs of any other stones. According to Great Crowns of Stone in 1840 Gaval was as complete and as impressive as Aikey Brae with most of the stones being cleared "In about 1868 the recumbent was blasted, apparently by apprentice masons working nearby" (GCoS)

This is an elevated recumbent stone, it's sitting on top of six small stones. There's four circle stones all fallen and the closest fallen stone to the recumbent has a line of six 1" holes drilled into it. In Great Crowns of Stones there's reports of one of these circle stones being added between surveys. The original circle is clear from the raised ground.
On the way to this stone circle I noticed that there are a number of piles of stones around the neighbouring fields. Two of these piles I walked past are very large with what looks like the remains of circle stones.

The large recumbent stone and one tall flanker still standing and behind both of these is a very large pile of medium and small stones that maybe broken up remains of the fallen flanker and all the circle stones or could be stones unearthed and gathered up over the years of ploughing.
